The Fluffy Jackets talks about their formation in new documentary film

16. August 2019: Something from Nothing CD + DVD available from Amazon

The Fluffy Jackets' album Something from Nothing (2019) has been released as a combined CD album and DVD documentary film, covering the band's history from the start in 2006 through to the present day. The documentary includes a studio performance from the original Fluffy Jackets' line-up.

The original Fluffy Jackets line-up is reunited for the 2019 documentary movie "Something from Nothing" where they explain how the band first started out. From left to right: Jerry Bessent (bass), Helge Rognstad (guitars, vocals) and Ian Robinson (drums).

The first episode of the film documentary features a retrospective interview with the original Fluffy Jackets line-up including Helge Rognstad on vocals/ guitars, Jerry Bessent on bass and Ian Robinson on drums. In the interview, the group talks about how they first got together.

"I was playing in a band called Random around the South-West of London" explains drummer Ian Robinson; "then Helge joined and stripped me away".

Guitarist Helge Rognstad adds: "We had nine people in Random at one point and it took time to get everyone together, so in the breaks Ian and myself used to jam and try songs out. After a while we thought it sounded pretty good, so I decided to split and create my own band".

Ian came up with "The Fluffy Jackets" name, and the pair initially gigged around London as a two-piece. Needing to cut a demo to showcase their songs to gig promoters, they approached legendary bassist Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath). The offer was accepted, and the EP was professionally recorded on analogue tape at the Cowshed Studio in North London with Teo Miller (Blur, Happy Mondays) behind the dials:

Bass player Jerry Bessent was later recruited and has been in the band ever since, playing bass on the award-winning Fighting Demons album (2014) and the new Something from Nothing(2019).

About:
The Fluffy Jackets first appeared on the London scene with a self-titled EP in 2007, but it was not until 2014 that they made a dent in the charts with the debut album «Fighting Demons». Recorded at the legendary Sun Studio by multiple Grammy Award winning engineer Matt Ross-Spang, the outing won the Blues Hour’s «Best Studio Album of the Year» award and also earned the band their first international hit in «Why Don’t You Smile». The slow blues was made particularly memorable for featuring a sizzling guitar solo from Nazareth guitar legend Manny Charlton, backed up by bassist Neil Murray (Whitesnake) and Jerry Lee Lewis‘ drummer Rob Hall (The Killer Band). The band has just completed the anticipated follow-up. Released by Cargo Records UK, “Something from Nothing” will be available as a limited Digipack consisting of a nine track CD album and a two-hour DVD documentary film.
