The Rise And Fall Of The Songwriter" features an international collaboration by musicians from various corners of the globe. Helge Rognstad is fronting The Fluffy Jackets as chief songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. LA-based guitarist Matt Bradford contributes his distinct fuzz-infused lap steel work to the tracks "The Well Is Dry" and "I Think Too Much." Scottish guitar virtuoso Liam Creedon adds his talents to the heartfelt ballad "Now That She Is Gone." Vocalist Leif Knashaug from Norwegian rockers The Halloween Project provides duet vocals on the haunting tribute to Manny Charlton (Nazareth) in "Ship Of Dreams." The songs are backed by a formidable rhythm section featuring Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore) on bass and Matija Bajtal (Croatian drum sensation) on percussion.
"The Rise And Fall Of The Songwriter" marks a major milestone in The Fluffy Jackets' 18-year career, as Helge Rognstadhas stepped into the producer role, following in the footsteps of legendary producer Manny Charlton(Nazareth) who helmed the band's first two albums.
Rognstad reflects, "I've been fortunate to work with top engineers and producers like Matt Ross Spang and Manny Charlton, picking up mixing tricks and songwriting tips along the way. I've aimed to apply those lessons to this record. While it's satisfying to take control and produce this first album in The Fluffy Jackets Sound Studio, I've learned when to seek outside help when required. I am glad that I had the foresight to enlist Shane Shanahan at Westpoint Studios to help out with the vocal production. That was a game-changer".
Vocal overdubs were recorded at Westpoint Studios, Acton (London, UK) under the expert guidance of engineer Shane Shanahan (pictured).
Building upon the previous albums "Fighting Demons" (2014) and "Something From Nothing" (2019), the new material from The Fluffy Jackets also represents songwriting growth and evolution. The nostalgic opener "Waterloo Bridge" evokes the pop-sensibilities reminiscent of early material from The Kinks, while ballads like "Now That She Is Gone" and "Red Sky" takes listeners on a poignant journey through themes of loss and longing. Fans of the band's signature blues rock sound will also find plenty to love here with songs such as "When The Telephone Rings" and "The Well Is Dry", delivering the type of gritty blues that The Fluffy Jackets are known for.

The single "The Well Is Dry" was first released on the 15th of April 2024 on the The Fluffy Jackets Official YouTube Artist Channel. Viewers are granted an intimate - but short - glimpse into the creative process. The video is bare except a surprise inclusion in the middle, where viewers can get a glimpse of Los Angeles-based lap steel specialist Matt Bradford recording the fuzz-infused guitar solo.
The lyric video for "Goodbye" is available on The Fluffy Jackets Official YouTube channel. It was their mentor Manny Charlton (Nazareth)who suggested that The Fluffy Jackets should include "Goodbye" in their upcoming album, even recording a rudimentary demo of the track in his studio prior to his passing in 2022. It became the first single to be released from the album earlier this year on the 19th of January 2024.

Helge Rognstad The Fluffy Jackets' chief songwriter, guitarist and vocalist comments "Not only is this our first fully self-produced album recorded at The Fluffy Jackets Sound Studio, but it also marks our first foray into direct distribution through our online music store, offering our music and associated merchandise directly to our fans. It has been quite a journey but very rewarding in the end".
Band Bio The Fluffy Jackets are energetic blues rockers who deliver a sound that draws from the early days of blues, Americana and classic bands like Bad Company. Formed in 2006 in London by guitarist/vocalist Helge Rognstad and drummer Ian Robinson, The Fluffy Jackets gained traction with live performances in central London for three years. Their debut EP was recorded in 2007 at Cowshed Studio (London, UK) with producer Teo Miller (Blur, Happy Mondays) and featuring Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath). Signing with Cargo Records in 2013, they recorded their first album at the legendary Sun Studio (Memphis, USA) with notable guests. "Fighting Demons" (2014) garnered critical acclaim, produced by Manny Charlton (Nazareth) and engineered by Matt Ross Spang (Jason Isbell, Rival Sons). Their sophomore album, "Something from Nothing" (2019), included a tribute to Glen Campbell. This came with a two-hour DVD; a documentary covering the band’s decade long existence. Collaborating with The Halloween Project (Norway) in 2021, they honored Manny Charlton's 80th birthday with Nazareth covers featuring special guests Ronni Le Tekrø (TNT) and Neil Murray (Whitesnake). Their new album 'The Rise And Fall Of The Songwriter' is released in 2024. More information is available at www.fluffyjackets.co.uk
